Viigo Partners With Leading South American Newspaper
Toronto, Canada & Orlando, Fla. – May 13, 2008 – Viigo Inc. (www.viigo.com), developer of the popular mobile content and services delivery platform for smartphones, announced today that Chilean newspaper publisher La Tercera (www.tercera.cl), one of South America’s largest media organizations, will use Viigo to distribute content to their readers. La Tercera is now offering a free, branded version of Viigo to its readers, giving them one-click access to a wealth of information including breaking news, sports, entertainment, weather, stock market performance, traffic alerts, blogs posts and much more while on the go.“By mobilizing content in an incredibly compelling way, Viigo provides a unique opportunity for media companies to create new revenue streams while providing value to subscribers in ways not possible before,” said Mark Ruddock, CEO of Viigo. “Many traditional news outlets are starting to look to Viigo to more effectively mobilize their content, reach new readers and bolster ad revenue.”
La Tercera’s co-branded version of Viigo will be offered to readers through a major media campaign across La Tercera’s media channels. People can download the La Tercera version of Viigo at www.latercera.cl and www.GetViigo.com/LaTercera.
“Viigo gives La Tercera an important new way to extend our brand that is consistent with our mission of delivering readers news and fresh content that matches their interest,” said Manuela Chicharro Vargas, product manager for mobility from La Tercera. “The Viigo service lets readers stay in touch with a range of valuable information while on the go, in a form that they can easily navigate and read on their smartphones.”
Viigo continues to aggressively grow its international partnerships. Although La Tercera represents Viigo’s first agreement with a major media organization in South America, working with media companies around the globe has allowed Viigo to exponentially grow its user base while providing tremendous value to its partners.
One such partner is the National Post, one of Canada’s National Newspapers (www.nationalpost.com). Last fall Viigo launched the National Post’s mobile presence with great success.
“Viigo allows the National Post to quickly and seamlessly mobilize its breaking news content with literally no capital or technical investment,” says Jonathan Harris, the National Post’s vice president of digital media. “Viigo delivers the news to mobile devices fast. And it’s easy to download. It is a natural complement to our online strategy and gives our clients a unique new way to reach a targeted and desirable audience.”
