Viigo Heads To Smartphones Across Indonesia

Telkomsel features Viigo as a Virtual Preload on their BlackBerry smartphones; Advances beyond the WAP portal availability

Viigo Inc. (www.viigo.com), developer of the award winning mobile content and services platform for smartphones, announced today that Telkomsel, the leading operator of cellular telecommunications services in Indonesia by market share and revenue share, has added a co-branded version of Viigo for BlackBerry as a virtual preload (VPL) across its entire line of BlackBerry devices. The VPL placement follows a successful deployment within the Telkomsel Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) portal which was launched in August of 2009.

“Viigo is continuing to gain significant traction with carriers around the world,” said Mark Ruddock, CEO, Viigo. The privilege of working with Telkomsel provides further evidence of the value we offer this market and the support we are gaining at the end user level.”

By offering Viigo, Telkomsel is giving its BlackBerry customers access to an application that provides customizable news feeds, weather reports, sports information, financial intelligence, the facility to make purchases, participate in social networks, read books, track their flights and more the moment they turn on the device.

Telkomsel Vice President of Product Lifecycle Management Rachel Goh said, “We believe it is important to continue introducing new services to our customers in order to provide the best solution for their mobile lifestyle activities. Now we deliver Viigo to our BlackBerry customers so they can enjoy an easy to use yet customizable service to tailor their experience and access a wide range of information as required throughout the day.”

As a co-branded version, Telkomsel will offer customized content including local news feeds, blogs, weather and more. The term “virtual preload” is used by Research In Motion (RIM), the manufacturer of BlackBerry smartphones, to describe the process of automatically provisioning an application icon on a device. In that way, the application can be made available to a user with a single click.
